The namesake of this blog derives from Max Forrester Eastman. He was everything wrong with society, but also everything society needed. Eastman was the founder of the Men’s League for Women’s Suffrage in 1908. He was a writer on literature, philosophy and society; a poet; and a leading political activist. Eastman believed in forward thinking and became a leading patron of the Harlem Renaissance, and an activist for many liberal and radical causes. More importantly, he fought for humanism, that all people should have full equality under the government regardless of race, ethnicity, culture, religion, gender, socio-economic background, and sexual identity.
Formally titled Eastman, the Eastman blog grows out of this view. This is a social commentary website that delves into topics of politics, history, self-improvement, art, culture, music, popular interests, religion, travel, world views, literature, cinema, performing arts, and any and all subjects that would otherwise provide thought-provoking dialogue.
